Art Vision Awards at Salon Photo et Vidéo 2026 in Paris

At the Grande Halle de la Villette, Art Vision Awards shared a day dedicated to photography, creativity and visual storytelling. Represented by Gil Zetbase and François Vermeersch, AVA explored distinctive artistic approaches and met members of the photography community.

From 8 to 11 October 2026, Salon Photo & Vidéo brings photography enthusiasts and professionals together in Paris. Formerly known as Salon de la Photo, the event adopts a new name that reflects the growing place of video alongside still photography and the evolution of creative practices.

This visit offered Art Vision Awards an opportunity to share its passion with photographers, artists, manufacturers and other imaging professionals. Technical discoveries and personal encounters made for an especially inspiring day.

Two centuries of photography, with an eye on the future

The 2026 edition has special significance as it celebrates the bicentenary of photography. Its major exhibition, “200 ans derrière l’objectif. Appareils photo : 1826-2026”, developed with the Musée Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône, explores the cameras and processes that have transformed image-making.

The programme also includes an experience centred on wet-plate collodion. This dialogue between photographic heritage and contemporary technology reminds us that new tools expand creative possibilities, while the photographer’s intention and sensitivity remain essential.

Discovering, experimenting and sharing

Beyond the equipment on display, the Grandes Rencontres explore the approaches of invited photographers. Photo Spots provide spaces for practical experimentation, while the Forum des Pros addresses the professional challenges of photography and video. Artistic discovery, learning and practice come together throughout the event.

Meaningful encounters for Art Vision Awards

A highlight of the day was meeting Nikos Aliagas, the television presenter and passionate photographer. Gil Zetbase and François Vermeersch also met Franck Bernard, President of Salon Photo & Vidéo. These encounters brought a personal dimension to the visit, beyond the exhibition stands and displays.

This spirit of exchange echoes the story of Gil Zetbase and the birth of AVA, as well as François Vermeersch’s role on the Art Vision Awards jury.

Les Zooms 2026: highlighting emerging talent

Discovering the photographers recognised by Les Zooms 2026 was another highlight. Established in 2010 to support emerging contemporary photographers, the competition awards a Press Prize and a Public Prize.

This year, Camille Nivollet, presented by Polka, receives the Press Prize. Kévin Ingrez, known as FAKELE and presented by Réponses Photo, wins the Public Prize. Their work is exhibited at the salon. Art Vision Awards congratulates both photographers on these distinctions.

Mia Hama: a distinctive view of everyday Japan

Art Vision Awards particularly enjoyed discovering Mia Hama, winner of the Second Prize at Zooms Japan 2026, through her series Everyday life is wonderful.

The Japanese photographer places herself in ordinary settings, introducing unexpected gestures and situations. Her colourful images shift familiar scenes and invite viewers to look at everyday life differently. This discovery reflects AVA’s interest in personal photographic voices and the diversity of artistic perspectives.

A shared passion for photography

Art Vision Awards leaves this day inspired by the encounters, the variety of work on display and the enthusiasm of a community united by photography. The experience continues the spirit of connection celebrated at Art Vision Awards Cannes 2026.

AVA thanks the Salon Photo & Vidéo team for bringing creators, professionals and enthusiasts together to exchange ideas, learn and find new inspiration. Explore AVA Magazine for more encounters, artist profiles and perspectives on visual culture.
